Choosing a battery for a Nissan Patrol is not the same as choosing one for a saloon. The engine is larger, the electrical load is heavier, and in Dubai the battery spends its life in conditions that shorten it considerably.

What a Nissan Patrol actually needs from a battery
Three things matter more on a Patrol than on a smaller car.
Cranking power. A 4.0-litre V6 or 5.6-litre V8 needs substantially more current to turn over than a four-cylinder engine. Cold cranking amps, usually printed on the label as CCA or a figure followed by “(EN)”, is the number that tells you whether a battery can do it. Under-specify here and the vehicle cranks slowly, the starter motor works harder, and the battery fails early.
Heat tolerance. Batteries in the UAE typically last around two to three years, and in some cases as little as eighteen months. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 45°C, which accelerates internal corrosion of the plates and evaporates electrolyte faster. A battery built for a temperate climate will not last here, whatever the label claims.
Reserve capacity. Measured in amp-hours (Ah) or as a reserve capacity figure, this is what supports the load when the engine is off or idling. Relevant if you run a fridge, dashcam, additional lighting, or sit with the air conditioning on while parked.
AGM or conventional lead-acid?
Two realistic options for a Patrol. The right answer depends on the model year and how you use the vehicle.
Conventional lead-acid (flooded)
The standard, lower-cost option. Suitable for older Patrols without start-stop systems, driven mostly on tarmac with no significant aftermarket electrical load.

A note on lithium. Lithium starter batteries are sometimes suggested as an upgrade. For a road-driven Patrol in Dubai we would generally advise against it. Lithium chemistries have specific charging requirements that a standard vehicle alternator does not always meet, high ambient heat affects them differently to lead-acid, and the cost is several times higher. There are legitimate uses in dedicated competition or heavily modified vehicles, but for a normal Patrol the money is better spent on a good AGM.
Battery capacity by Patrol model
Specification varies by generation, engine and equipment level. A Y61 and a Y62 are not interchangeable, and within the Y62 range the V6 and V8 differ.

Alongside capacity, three physical details need to match: case dimensions, terminal position and polarity, and the hold-down clamp arrangement. A battery that fits the tray but puts the positive terminal on the wrong side is not usable, and an unsecured battery in a vehicle that goes off-road will not last.
Brands worth considering in the UAE
All five below are sold widely in Dubai and are used regularly in Patrols. Availability of specific part numbers changes, so treat this as guidance on positioning rather than a fixed recommendation.
Amaron: a common choice across the Gulf, built with heat in mind, and generally good value for the cranking performance offered. A sensible default for a Patrol used mainly on road.
ACDelco: closest to a factory-fitment feel. Consistent starting performance and a straightforward replacement if you want the vehicle to behave exactly as it did when new.
Bosch AGM: a strong option for newer Patrols and any vehicle with a heavy electrical load or start-stop. Higher price, but the AGM construction earns it in Dubai conditions.
Varta: European manufacture with a good reputation for longevity. Worth considering if you cover long distances or run the air conditioning hard, which in this climate is most people.
Exide: the budget end. Reasonable for an older Patrol driven modestly in the city, though expect a shorter service life than the options above.
Buying a genuine unit matters as much as buying the right brand. Counterfeit and grey-import batteries circulate in the region and typically fail well inside their stated warranty.

Two things to check before committing to a price:
Whether fitting and delivery are included. A cheaper battery with a separate call-out charge can cost more overall than a higher-priced one delivered and installed.
The warranty terms. Length varies by brand and by battery. Ask what is covered, how a claim is handled, and whether the warranty is honoured locally.
Practical advice on getting the right one
Photograph the existing battery label. It shows capacity, cranking figure and terminal layout. Sending that photo removes most of the guesswork and is the fastest way to get an accurate quote.
Note your model year and engine. “Patrol” alone is not enough. A 2012 Y61 and a 2021 Y62 V8 need different batteries.
Mention any accessories. Dashcams with parking mode, fridges, winches and auxiliary lighting all affect what capacity makes sense.
Have the old battery tested before assuming it is finished. Occasionally the fault is a corroded terminal or a charging-system problem, and a new battery will not fix either.
